Something for my Lola.

It's been a while since I last wrote something.

This blog entry is all about my lola. I was even thinking of making it as a vlog but I might cry while doing it. So, no but maybe next time when I get a decent video recorder. (Probably not.)

Everyone would say they have the most awesome lola ever, but I'm telling you right now, my lola is way waaaaaaaay awesome! The fact that she was there when the Japanese and the Americans took over the Philippines. I love hearing her stories about the war, about how they survived and what they did to get their basic needs. My lola even took care of pigs just to earn money. She has three daughters and three sons, I'm not sure if all of them graduated college but all of them was able to STUDY in college. I love hearing the story when my lolo had an affair with some girl and my lola kicked his butt. LITERALLY! She's a great cook too. She enjoys making ube halaya, malagkit, sampalok and other rice sweets stuff. But now, she doesn't cook anymore. She says they used to sell stuffs like those before to earn money. I can't imagine myself doing those things. My lola is a superwoman. When I was a kid I think I was a spoiled brat but I'm not really sure. Oh! My lola would always scold us, as in always! My little bro and I used to fight, you know how normal siblings fight. So, we always get scolded or get our asses kicked by Nanay. I will never ever forget how she took care of us when we were kids, whenever we go out to buy food she always get something extra for the kids(us). There's always something to eat like, fruits, biscuits and cookies. She always know what to buy and what not to buy at the grocery. I don't know how she does that. (underconstruction)

How to live a STRESS-FREE college life:

READ MORE. LEARN MORE. Note: This applies to guys as well.

Find a place where you can study. Away from your Laptop, Bed and T.V.

Memory boosting food: apple juice, nuts, peanut butter sandwich.

Own a planner. Note: Guys should get one too. Owning a planner doesn’t mean you’re gay. No offense.

For Girls: Do not over-pack for school! All you need is a notebook, a pen and a couple of books.

For Guys: Okay, so we all know you’re hardcore but that doesn’t mean you don’t have to study for an exam tomorrow.

Stop being a kiss-ass to your professors because everyone will hate you for that.

Read, understand and follow you student handbook. Proper uniform and id is and will always be important.

Do not forget to bring extra cash for hand-out fees and such.

Penge.com is never cool!

*Just be yourself and have fun!

College Student do’s and don’ts 101

Do a background check on your professor. E.g. if he/she is the kind of professor who values attendance and such.  Do your research! It might help you someday.

STAY OUT OF GOSSIPS! Been there, stayed there for a while and believe me, cheap thrills of judgment is not worth it! You might end up losing precious people in your life.

When in class, PLEASE... I’m begging you! Avoid checking your phone every 10 seconds. You’ll never get back what you missed during class discussion.

Build a good study habit by always doing your assignments earlier. CRAMMING and PROCASTINATING is not healthy when you’re in college because there will be a lot of things going on.

Bring your own bottle of water. (So, yeah, although I really didn’t care about this that much. Seriously, 1 bottle of water will cost you about 20 pesos!) That’s 100 pesos for 5 days and 400 pesos saved money for a month!

Don’t be afraid to ask people around you. There are a lot of friendly students in STI and you might need their help more than you think.

ALWAYS! I repeat! ALWAYS bring your I.D.

Try to explore the easiest and cheapest route to your campus. The fare nowadays is not friendly at all. Even for students. ;)

Always have a spare pen and paper. Have a spare with everything you need every day in school, and that is, PEN and PAPER!  POP QUIZ!

Choose your schedule wisely, make sure you will be able to get all the subjects you need for that semester. But in STI, it’s automatically set for you, so you’re lucky. ;)

Do not be too addicted for the following:
Drugs – everything illegal was never cool.
Alcohol- You’ll have plenty of time to fool around after college.
Cigarettes- Decreases your life span.’nuff said.

Always greet the people around you with confidence and always smile! Good luck!

*P.S. Never add your professors on Face book. Not until you graduate.

20 years of CRAP and BLISS.

LIFE is about constant change, sometimes it’s painful, sometimes it’s blissful, but most of the time it’s both. There will be countless questions and the answers we find are never what we had in mind. Sometimes things are left unspoken, unheard and unintentionally unshared. People tend to keep everything in and then self-destruct. Why? Because it is not easy to trust people. Trust is often mistaken as weakness. Who’s to blame? It is us. No one else can fix us, but us. Life is made up of what we are used to. Change is something all of us are afraid of. But living a great life is not about routine it is about doing something rare, something we have not done before. To think about it, no one can really define life and love. You can only imagine it… how it feels like when you are in it.

LOVE is governed by the hypothalamus part of our brain. As well as with hunger, pain and sex drive. Love cannot be destroyed. Love cannot be created. It has been with us, always… just like the wind.

About HAPPINESS, most of us struggle to find this so-called happiness. It does not mean that if we have everything we wish for, we’re happy. Real happiness is not about everything being perfect. Happiness is no matter how shitty your life is, you managed to smile and move forward. It means that you see life beyond it’s imperfections. Happiness is contentment. We have to realize that we must stop pushing ourselves to be happy. Real and lasting happiness takes time. It starts from within us, keep letting life shitty-ness in and you will see how strong and happy you are after. One last thing, share happiness with people you love. It does not mean anything at all if you cannot share it to anyone.

TREAT PEOPLE NICELY. Say thank you, say sorry. Apologize whenever you need to. Say thank you whenever you need to. Say thank you to the nice cashier who served you at Mcdo. GIVE to the less fortunate people you see around you. EVERY thoughtful thing COUNTS. Stop being an ASS to people, you do not have the right to do that.

BE POSITIVE. STAY POSITIVE. Surround yourself with positive people. It will pay off eventually, you’ll see.

MISTAKES. REJECTION. INSANITY.

Imperfections are important, yes it is, just as mistakes are. We only get better and wiser by learning from mistakes and we get to be real by being imperfect. You live, you learn.

REJECTION. It is one of the most poisonous element in our lives. It is like being neglected. It happens when some people only see us as one of their OPTIONS. You get the point. J

INSANITY. If all else fails, we become insane. We lose ourselves, the pressures, the burden and all that melodramatic crap. But when were back from being insane, we do not know what to do when we get there. We do not know how to start being normal again.

CHANCES. RISKS. We are afraid to take chances, take big steps. We get scared and we chicken out when we encounter choices that are hard to decide on. So we tend to RUN. Then, the word IMPOSSIBLE comes up. We must understand that IMPOSSIBLE is just a BIG word. Impossible is a dare, a dare to step up and say “I CAN DO THIS, YOU BITCH!” IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING.

Life has it’s own ups and downs. There comes to a point when we just want to breakdown and stop everything we started. When we have been hurt so much, shattered into pieces. Life can sometimes be tiring. Life is not easy it was never a fairytale. Life can be a pain in the arse but you cannot just give up. NEVER EVER GIVE UP GIRL! And if it is really that CRAPPY, forget about it and move forward.

When we fall, we lose everything, but there is still someone who can back us up. Someone who will pick us up, take us out of the rain, the pain. It is HIM. Our faith in GOD will never fail us. It is what separates us from what we are and who we are.

So hear me out, life is about giving hope and loving all of the people around us. Just be yourselves, you, you, and YOU! It’s all we have, it’s all we need. LOVE. Love and pain exist together. Just like in the song IRIS by The Goo Goo Dolls, “Yeah, you bleed just to know you’re alive.”

Life is what we make it. It is unique. Just like each of us. Love makes the world go round. So let’s live, love, and take what ever pain it brings.
